The Little Prince Assignment Chapters 19-26

a. If I were to organize the 100th year anniversary of the Little Prince Publication, the activity would be finding a reason to any saying by traveling so that people will learn values about their experiences in life and to learn how to understand other people’s expressions about how they also feel.

b. The adult quality the little Prince has is, being dependable. The child like quality would be his being curious because whenever he asks questions, he wants somebody to answer it immediately.

c. The life story he is relating could be about Exupery being the pilot and was helped by a small boy(little prince) relating the boy’s imagination to him, leading to Antoine de Saint Exuperys’ survival.

d. In the end, the Little Prince died from a snake bite beneath the glimmering star in front of the pilot.

e. The Pilot didn’t tell them because he was trying to comfort himself though being troubled anyway, he wouldn’t tell them because he’s afraid nobody will believe him. In real life, if we couldn’t show what our feelings are, then the person around us will not understand what we really feel about them. Just like smiling while you were sad about something.

f. 1.) The message in the saying is, it is telling us not to judge somebody if we don’t understand his feelings. It’s like saying, “Actions Speaks Louder than Words”.

2.) It means that whatever you teach something, whether good or bad, you will always be the one responsible for its actions. Its like just like teaching a dog how to get newspapers and giving it to your parents then you and your dog would be commended for the good deed.

3.) It means, whatever words you say to someone, it often leads that person to a wrong judgment of what you were trying to say. It’s like an adult scolding a child for making a wrong sentence and corrects the child so that he/she won’t do it again but then, the child thinks that the adult hates him/her already.

4.) The truth is, when we see a desert, we say something about it being a death trap to humans, but then if we see a well, we can say that it is beautiful because we could notice some living plants and animals around and benefit from it.

5.) What the Little Prince was thinking, that he had a really special flower in the world but then, he found out in another planet that his special flower was just a very common rose.

6.) It means that if you really love something and imagine it with the stars, it would look beautiful to you during the night.

a. The king of asteroid 325 uttered the line. The significance in real life of this line is, if an adult knows something a boy or a girl does not know, then that adult will try to teach them the good things there is in life to know about.

b. It means that it is much easier to judge someone else because you can see how they act; unlike to judge yourself where you can’t really pay attention on what you were doing.

c. It means that people who think well about themselves, don’t want to hear anything else than compliments from others. No they don’t suffer from this kind of a problem because; they just want to think positively about it.

d. The Irony to this is that, He is already a drunkard but he doesn’t want to face reality that he is one and he’s ashamed of himself. One similar line of which is that; I learned from my experience to hate and never trust women, but lately I met Veronica and it frightens me at times how weak I feel when I’m around her. It makes me feel weak and strong at the same time. And I hate this kind of feeling.

e. The businessman wants to be rich because he wants to buy more stars. The character of the businessman is very ambitious and perfectionist in relation to real life people.

f. This means that, whatever is the order of your superior or higher authority, it should be followed without any question or refusal. The significance in real life is, once we obey orders, we should do it accordingly so as to show our faithfulness and dedication to the one who has given it.

g. The Little Prince perceives the character of the Lamplighter to be not ridiculous and he is thinking of something else besides himself. I agreed with the little prince because, as what I have understood, the lamplighter is the only one who is talking with a sense comparing to those characters from the previous chapters.

h. For me, the geographer represents, being a lazy adult. He tends to represent the truth that mostly of the adults are relying their works to another person.

i. The Pilot described the planet Earth as not just an ordinary planet.
I would describe the planet Earth to be the planet of great opportunity in which all people can appreciate the beauty of its vastness and natural resources. People will have the opportunity to explore the mountains, oceans, rivers and deserts; can experience the different climates in different countries; can find a lot of living things and most of all, we can meet people of different race, culture, traditions and languages.

j. The snake made these statements because, he thinks that he can twine himself to any living things and in one bite he can kill it immediately; while the kings order will be executed by his men by pointing one finger to let them do it. In solving the riddles, the snake believes that he is wise and smart because it is not easy to live and survive in the desert.

k. Every human being is tasked to travel in order to survive. As the saying goes, “Man cannot live by bread alone”.

a. How did the people's reaction toward the boa constrictor drawing affect the pilot's life? What does it tell you about how adults should treat children?

Answer: The people's reaction affected the pilot's life because they disheartened him from drawing any object and supported him to other things like geography,history and more. They demolished his dream on becoming an aspiring artist.Grown-ups should always support something that a child desires not what a parent or an adult want as long as it gives good moral and attributes so that he will grow-up as a good citizen.

b. How did the pilot finally draw the exact sheep wanted by the little prince? What does this tell you?

Answer: The pilot drew the exact sheep by thinking deeply and at last drew it inside a box and explained to him that he can imagine any kind of sheep he wants.This tells us that "To think is to create" meaning when you think,you can answer almost anything someone asks you.

c. Why did nobody believed the Turkish astronomer when he talked about Asteroid B 612 for the first time? What does this tell you about grown-ups?

Answer: Nobody believed him (so did I) the first time he explained because he dressed in a ridiculously Turkish costume.This tells readers that grown-ups wont believe you unless you dress the proper attire.The costume of the Turkish astronomer itself is improper and thus need to be corrected.

d. When do adults describe that a house is beautiful? What does this tell you?

Answer: Adults describe a house "beautiful" if it has a lot of modern furniture,well arranged and well painted surroundings and they will also appreciate the house if it is well designed and geographically well located. This tells us that whenever an adult say that its pretty if it costs $20,000, they only talk about it in general or broadly as what was told in the story of the little prince.

e. What are baobabs? What aspect of life do they reflect?

Answer: Baobabs are enormous trees that is mistaken for a bush in the Little prince's world and is considered as a pest to him.It reflects that if a child is born from a good or bad mannered person it would also obtain the attributes from where it came from and would be hard to change.

f. How did the little prince react when the pilot replied,"matters of consequence"? Why did the little prince react that way?

Answer:Honestly, I'm not really sure but to me, the little prince roared with anger somehow because he hates adults and when the pilot talked like one, the prince really disliked it.

g. What is meant by "It is such a secret place,the land of tears"?

Answer: There's a meaning to that saying and it means that rarely,people express strong feelings they can't control when they're mentally hurt.

h. What aspect of life is reflected by the "volcanoes"?

Answer: The aspect is that if we took care of something very well,then it will be available for a convenient usage in return.

i. Who uttered the line, "I must endure the presence of two or three caterpillars if I wish to become acquainted with the butterflies"? What significant message is implied?

Answer: It was the flower uttered the line.The message implied is "In order to face the rewards in life, one must endure the obstacles and misfortunes of it.

j."She coughed two or three times in order to put the little prince in the wrong." What is the context behind this line? What characteristic is shown on the statement? How is it seen on real life?

Answer: For me,the context is about the flower being unsure what to say next to the little prince,so she coughed to use it as an excuse and to lead the little prince to the idea of thinking that the flower has a case of a cold.The characteristic shown is about the flower being a liar.As I see it,everybody occasionally tells a lie whenever they have a problem or putting themselves in a certain situation which they can't expect to happen and do away with it.

k. How will you describe the relationship of the little prince and the flower?

Answer: Their relationship is very special because they love each other,though they occasionally lie to each other,they will admit their mistakes eventually and live a happy life.
